Chinese New Year Panda Card II (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

This is my second post today. If you missed the first one, just scroll down, or follow this link.

Today it's my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Chinese New Year Panda Card II.

I used super cute 'Chinese New Year Panda' from 2013 January Panda Releases . This is my second card with this cute Panda. If you like, you can see the first one here and here. :o)

Details about my card...

Image is paper pieced.

I printed 4 images on a white cardstock paper. I draw circles around panda's eyes and colored it's muzzle with black permanent pen, colored a lantern with red colored pencil, fussy cut pieces I needed, colored edges with black marker and glued all pieces together. To create glossy accents, I covered lantern and panda's muzzle with clear gloss resin.

Using MS Word, I wrote sentiment in a Text Box (font white, background black), printed it, cut  it in a banner shape, colored edges with black marker and covered whole banner with clear gloss resin. Surface is crackled. This happened during drying and have no idea how it got crackled, but I LOVE it! :o)

For a card base, I used white cardstock paper. I splattered front panel with black Tempera Color mixed with water. To add more dimension to this one layer card, I glued both, image and sentiment, on 3-D foams and placed them on card. At the end, I added couple enamel stickers to brighten up my card. :o)

Card dimensions are 101 mm x 132 mm (4" x 5 1/4").

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone! :o)

Yesterday a new Aloha Friday Challenge started at Kitty Bee Designs.

New challenge for this fortnight is #64 - Favorite Color Combo. One of my favorite color combination is violet/white. :o)

We have two sponsors for this challenge: A Random Fan and Sami Stamps, so there will be double prizes! :o)

For this challenge I made a Pregnant Lady Silhouette Card, using our sponsor's Sami Stamps 'Waiting for You Silhouette' digital image.

This is CAS (clean and simple), one layer card and my first attempt of no line coloring. :o)

I recolored image lines in MS Word (Format Picture - Recolor - Light Variations) and print it on a white watercolor paper, directly on a card base.

After printing, I left image dry some time to prevent unwanted ink smearing. I colored image in watercoloring, no line, technique, using gorgeous Tim Holtz's Distress Ink Wilted Violet.

Card dimensions are 100 mm x 139 mm (4" x 5 1/2").

List of supplies:

Aquarius Constellation Birthday Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles and I made this Aquarius Constellation Birthday Card.

For this one I used two gorgeous Jane's Doodles stamp sets: 'Rain or Shine' and 'Anemone'.

I heat embossed stars and sentiment on a white cardstock paper and colored whole surface with Blueprint Sketch Distress Color. Love this one! Such a pretty blue shade. :o)

After drying, I drew white lines whit white pen and splattered whole surface with white acrylic paint mixed with water.

I left panel drying on air. After drying, I glued the panel on a  white cardstock card base.
Tip: When drying acrylic paint splatters on air they look prettier than drying with heat tool.

Card dimensions are 146 mm x 98 mm (5 3/4" x 3 7/8").

Penguin with Hot Chocolate Card (Crafty Creations Challenges #307)

http://craftycreationschallenges.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone :o)

My second post today. If you missed the first one, just scroll down or follow this link.

This Wednesday new challenge started at Crafty Creations Challenges.

Our theme for this fortnight is #307 - Paper Piecing, one of my favorite techniques. :o)

Our sponsor for this challenge is Beccy´s Place, with an awesome prize for our random winner: 3 digital images.
http://www.beccysplace.com/

For this challenge I made this Penguin with Hot Chocolate Card, using our sponsor's adorable digital image 'Finn's Hot Chocolate'. (Thank you Beccy!)

I used two images for paper piecing.

I printed two images on a watercoloring paper and left them dry for a while. As I use inkjet printer I always do this before coloring, to prevent ink smearing.

Then I colored pieces I needed in watercoloring technique using Tim Holt's Distress Inks, fine paint brush and water. I left colored pieces drying on air.

After drying, I fussy cut all pieces, colored their edges with black Stabilo Pen, softened all pieces with a stylus ball on a soft working mat and glued all pieces together.

For a background, I decided to keep it as simple as possible. I splattered front panel of the card with with acrylic paint mixed with water using larger paint brush.

After drying, I glued 3-D foams behind penguin image and placed him on the card. I thought this will be enough, but at this point my card was nice but not so cheery, so I embellished my card with arrow enamel stickers. :o)

Card dimensions are 107 mm x 139 mm (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

List of supplies:
  • Beccy's Place 'Finn's Hot Chocolate' digital stamp
  • Crafter's Companion Neenah Desert Storm Kraft Coloring Card
  • Koh-i-noor Watercolor paper (250 gms)
  • Tim Holtz's Distress Inks
    • Spiced Marmalade
    • Barn Door
    • Antique Linen
    • Walnut Stain
    • Black Soot
  • Stabilo Pen Black 68/46
  • Marabu Acrylic Paint (070 White)
  • enamel stickers from Create a Smile 'Snow Dance' kit
